This week’s prompt:
“It’s Children’s Book Week, so let’s talk about favorite children’s books. Who were your fictional besties in childhood? Was there a series you read over and over again? Did you want to follow Lucy through the wardrobe or solve mysteries with Trixie Belden? Let us know!”

The Magic Treehouse series by Mary Pope Osborne was my favorite series throughout Elementary School. I only owned a couple books myself but my English teachers would always read these books to the class. I could not tell you how many adventures of Jack and Annie stressed me out over the years lol.
Goosebumps by R.L. Stine was one of those series I would always beg to buy at the Scholastic Book Fair every year. These books CREEPED me out. My favorites include Night of the Living Dummy, The Haunted Mask, and the one where the librarian turns into a frog creature. These books seemed to not have too many happy endings, which scared me even more.
The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis was our read through in fifth grade I think. We spent basically the whole year getting through it, and ended up going on a field trip to see the movie in theaters. The whole fantasy nature of a different world being hidden in your wardrobe, forever changed my imagination. I remember acting out many scenes with my friends. While I only read the first book, I believe I saw three of the movies.
Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling was the first BIG chapter books I read through. While I only got half way through the fourth one, it was still a pioneer to my reading journey. I remember feeling so accomplished when I would finish one since I thought they were so incredibly long lol. The books added so much extra spice the movies missed out on.
The Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan I read in middle school English class. I vividly remember being taught how to annotate books, so my copy had notes upon notes with everything underlined in different highlighters and pens. Once again, we ended up watching the movie in class at the end of the year.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney was one of those series I did not imagine I would actually enjoy. It was considered a ‘boy’s book’ but I ended up having a friend who had a copy. The unique format of it actually looking like a kid’s journal, influenced myself to write as well. I read through all of the series that was available at the time. Lord knows how many books are now in the series lol.
