Such a fun prompt!
My favorite genre of candy is the gummy kind for sure. I enjoy the more chocolatey and rich candies as well, but they have a tendency to hurt my teeth. Plus, with the gummy choices, you do not have to worry about it melting in your hands, causing a mess.
My all-time favorites include (but are not limited to)
I sometimes drive part the Haribo factory in Yorkshire. Due to the main part of the building being drab dark concrete locally it’s called the Gummy Bear Prison.
Oh wow! I would love to tour the place but yeah lol the nickname suits it for sure.
Cool post as usual. When I was reading, it reminded me of a short prose I wrote on my blog aeons ago called: ‘The 20c Lolly Packet’. If you don’t mind I’ll share it below:
Mum, apron on, stirdy
dinner ready for father’s return
kids bathed, tumbled into pyjamas,
awaiting their 20c lolly packet
rousing reception – walks through the door
cheap aftershave and cigar aroma
lingers like an old worn photograph,
yet it wasn’t like that then
twas about the white creased packet
‘How will we split up our lollies’?
The banana, which resembled the moon,
the disgusting spearmint leaf,
or the chocolate-coated licorice-centred pill.
dressed in our crisp PJs
scent of baby shampoo in the air,
busily removing the lollies from their packets.
putting them in precise order
and swapped those we didn’t like,
ensuring an equal number between us.
It was an intricate system we had going.
I have always loved how yall folk call them lollies. I prefer that over suckers lol
Dang that was nicely written Matt. I can totally relate to that myself. Anytime our parents went to the bank and they saw my sister and I in the back, they would always send a couple suckers through the tube. Without fail, there was always one great flavor and one not so and we would always f=compromise over the good one.
Yeh, you troopers have other words like candy and sweets. I like how ‘lollies’ rolls out the tongue – it’s so cute. I’ve never heard of suckers – it kind of sux that word ;-P excuse the pun.
‘Suckers through a tube’ sounds like an attraction at Willy Wonker’s factory lol
I also like how you guys have ‘Dang’ in your lexicon. I’ve kind of introduced it to mine since living in the Americas.
“Lollies” is such a cute word for sure. I do like the harshness of the word ‘sucker’ though. It feels a bit like an insult and is fun to say lol
Yeah, the banks up here, if you go through the drive thru lanes, have these tubes they send the little canister where the money goes, just so nobody can snatch anything. Suckers can fit in there so you can see them shoot out of the main building and down the tube to your car.
Oh yeah, ‘dang’ is basically a part of the culture at this point lol
Ah ok I’d never heard of those canisters. Wow, like you guys do that stuff.
