Goodreads/TBR Monday – Where Darkness Dwells

—

Goodreads Monday/TBR Monday is hosted by Budget Tales Book Blog and invites you to post about what books are on your Goodreads “to read” lists or TBR lists, the progress you have made on your current books and reading challenges, and any other bookish news!

Where Darkness Dwells by Andrea Renae is the first book in the Song of the Solas series. This is a longer book than I typically read at 400 or so pages but it is apparently a fantasy, Christian fiction, YA, romance story. The fight between darkness and light seems to be the main theme in the story, of which I love!

Synopsis

A land plagued with darkness and griefis all Amyrah knows, but when luminescent creatures appear in the Vale, her inborn gift awakens and allows her to see the shadows for what they are.

Caught between fear and the pull of light on her soul, she must decide whether her convictions are worth shattering the beliefs of those she loves.

If courage fails her and she gives in to the pressing dark, her people could remain shrouded forever. But if she stands against it, true light might penetrate the Vale for the first time.

Updates

I have finished Cutie Pies by the Slice by Kimberly Nixon and am currently working on that review.

As for A Perfect Mother by Miranda Smith, I am currently about 70% of the way through. I should have this finished and reviewed today as well.

I am trying to push both of these reviews out today in order to finish August off strong. I just have to hope my niece stays asleep a bit longer today lol.

  1. Fingers crossed for the sleep and getting the reviews done. I 100% relate 😂 I managed to read 14 books this month which is the most that I ever get read. I do typically read books less than 400 pages though!

    Have a great week!

    1. Lol thank you for the good wishes!

She stayed asleep a while on Monday and today but yesterday, she was awake when I got to mom’s house at 6am and was awake the entire time until about 3pm. It was a bit of a headache lol

Great job with 14! I think my most books read in a month is 11 or 10 right now, so I am impressed. And with children, golly!

      Have a great week yourself!

      1. Noooo that’s such a long awake time 🤣 my youngest had a very long nap today, danger zone nap – from 1:15 to 4:30ish. Maybe a bit later.

Mine is usually 8/9. It’s just luck with the naps and later bedtime due to the summer holidays. Earlier bedtimes will stop that 😂

        Thank you. You too 😊

      2. I thought so to! Once she is up, she is up. She has been fighting sleep since she came out of the womb lol. When she does sleep, good luck waking her up, minus when she has these odd sleep walking moments where she attempts to leave the bed with her eyes still closed.

I hope your son got good sleep that night! Its like I enjoy the peace when she is asleep but the anxiety of them not sleeping good at night, almost cancels that out lol.

      3. Bless her. Both of mine have generally slept well. My second struggled to stay asleep over night though until he was over 2.

I admit that my youngest is 3 but is still light enough to be in a cot. I dread to think what will happen once he grows out of the cot. Goodbye to the little sleep that I currently have!

Haha there will always be something to worry about I think!

      4. I am glad your children have slept pretty well! I would not want to wish sleepless nights on any parent.

Is a cot like a crib with the bars around it? I do enjoy those little comfy prison cells a bit lol as they cant just leave. Unless they figure out how to climb out that is. I hope that has not been the case for yours!

        Absolutely lol.

      5. It’s awful. Literal torture when you don’t get to sleep.

Yes 😊 love a baby prison 😂 you know where they are and they are safe. Interestingly he hasn’t really bothered. He tries to get his leg over and I put it back in 😂

      6. No sleep very much is torture for sure!

Lol nice! I can totally see why they would be useful for sure. That is cute he somewhat tries though 😀

      7. You don’t realise it until it happens to you 😂

        😂

Hello! I am Ashley and I simply love to read, and hope you do to!
I am currently 29 years old and living in the state of Texas, USA.

My favorite genres to read and review include romance, fantasy, mystery, and many subgenres of those as long as it is clean. I mainly get my books from my Kindle Unlimited membership, but I also found myself checking out library books on Libby as well.

As you can see, I do not solely post book reviews, I also love posting daily prompt writing, as well as stuff that is going on in my life currently. That being said, my passion is reading and reviewing books to my heart’s content, so hopefully that is something you are also interested in.

I do have a Goodreads where you can follow if you desire (no pressure!) I also have a StoryGraph, of which you can follow me here.
