My Significant Other

How did you meet your significant other?

Kolton and I met way back in high school actually.

I have lived in this area my whole life but he was going back and forth from living with his mom and his dad throughout his childhood. Kolton decided to live with his dad for high school and since that side of the family had roots in the same city as me, that allowed us to go to the same school. It is actually crazy to think that if Kolton had decided to stay with his mom, we probably would have never met.

Anyways, we pretty much met our freshman year as we had health together. My first impressions of him were basically that of a misfit mainly due to the conversations he was having with his own friends in the class. As he was a rather tall and bulky person, I was incredibly intimidated by him but he turned out to have a soft spot for sure. During that whole year, we were each with other people. While I was hardly dating my so-called boyfriend at the time as we never hung out outside of school, Kolton and I were getting to know each other as friends I would say.

There was one point in which I had actually broken up with the boyfriend and everyone in the class were making all these assumptions about it out loud. I was incredibly embarrassed but Kolton was backing me up and acting more like a support. That really made me start thinking of him differently.

The year ends and over the summer, the boyfriend dumps me again (we did in fact get back together over the second semester as you do in high school) and Kolton had found my Facebook and started messaging me. He had recently ended things with his girlfriend and I remember him asking me things like why did I decide to go out with so-and-so and I thought the boyfriend had put him up to it and I went on this whole spiel about how “great” of a person he was. Literally the next day I get dumped via text LOL.

Needless to say about a week later, Kolton and I were going out. This may seem like a rebound but truthfully, I always felt closer to Kolton than my ex. We actually hung out a lot that summer and basically the rest is history.

Kolton ended up going to a different high school the last three years (a whole other long and dramatic story) but we still went to homecoming and prom together. We graduated in 2015 and remained together until we got married in 2021. We have celebrated our 5th anniversary this year which is insane in of itself.

It has been a long and crazy ride for us for sure so it is crazy to look back and see how much we have grown and how far we have come since we first met.

● About Me

Hello! I am Ashley and I simply love to read, and hope you do to!
I am currently 29 years old and living in the state of Texas, USA.

My favorite genres to read and review include romance, fantasy, mystery, and many subgenres of those as long as it is clean. I mainly get my books from my Kindle Unlimited membership, but I also found myself checking out library books on Libby as well.

As you can see, I do not solely post book reviews, I also love posting daily prompt writing, as well as stuff that is going on in my life currently. That being said, my passion is reading and reviewing books to my heart’s content, so hopefully that is something you are also interested in.

I do have a Goodreads where you can follow if you desire (no pressure!) I also have a StoryGraph, of which you can follow me here.
