First of all, I wish schools would have taught us how to actually learn things instead of just memorizing stuff for tests. I have personally noticed that I struggle with internalizing new information nowadays due to having grown up in an environment where hardly anything is cumulative. It makes learning new skills more difficult.
Second of all, I wish school would have taught us the proper paths to take in order to get into a career without going to college. Yeah, there were certain programs that the school was fond of, but it just seemed like barely anybody actually got jobs going those routes. There was a machining program my husband went through that only taught a certain way of CNC. Well, all the places he applied for said that was not even how they were doing it. It made getting a job impossible. I would appreciate other education that was not half-baked, you know what I mean?
These things are besides the typically knowing how to properly be an independent adult, knowing how to regulate emotions, knowing more about finances and all the ways credit card and loan companies entrap you (mainly through college it seems), how to cook, how to clean, etc.
The list could truly go on and on and I think that says a lot about the school systems, especially in American.
