I would say my decoration style would be something akin to modern cottage core.
Think of lighter and even white woods, mixed with daker accents. I love the look of white cabinets with black hinges. Something similar to the background on these very posts.
As far as the furniture is concerned, I do not like anything too fancy. When things look too expensive, it makes me a bit hesitant to even use it as intended. Having some cheaper and well loved couches, chairs, tables, etc. makes the homes feel all the more inviting and comfortable to me. As long as everything is clean of course.
Where lighting is concerned, I do love me a simple chandelier type of thing. Again nothing too extra, but something to add a bit of intrigue while giving off quite a bit of light. Honestly, I love a good LED strip that you just hang on the wall or string lights, as well as candles or a wood burning stove.
Living plants are not really my thing but I do love the aesthetic of having greenery mixed in. Succulents are something I never really got into but they sure do add some character and color to a space. Hanging ivy is also something I would be more inclined to have as it is pretty easy taking care of the live ones, you just have to pay attention to where they start wandering.
Speaking of live plants, I would love to have flower beds for the pollinators and some bird baths and hummingbird feeders outside along the wrap around porch. Just put a few chairs and tables out there and you have a nice and comfy place to chill and hang with loved ones.
I would have modern amenities as well such as a projector screen for gaming and movies. I would love display my records and record player as well for on older feel as well. Maybe throw in a SMALL bookshelf and feel it with as many books as possible, but no more. I have to control that lol.
