Definitely the Tooth Fairy and Santa Clause lol.
Looking back, I am surprised I never though it strange how we were always taught ‘stranger danger’ and to never let anyone we did not know into the house. Well, anyone EXCEPT a weird molar obsessed mythical creature and a random man who sneaks around children, leaving them gifts. Both of them waiting until the children and adults are asleep…
Make it make sense! Lol.
Raising your children on these stories can also cause some problems outside the home. If the parents cannot afford to give their children the most expensive things, the children will think they have been bad or Santa does not like them. It is just such a strange concept looking back on it.
I remember the day in which I figured out the truth with the tooth fairy. I cannot remember how old I was but my sister and I still shared a bed. She had just lost a tooth the day before so we were expecting something to be underneath her pillow. Well, she gets up to do something and my mom comes in, throws the blanket over my face, and I can feel her lift up my sister’s pillow and place a bill there. Instead of being obvious that I knew the jig was up, I sat there not moving. I did not even tell my sister the truth since I felt as though part of my childhood just ended right in front of me. I wanted her to figure it out on her own since I had to lol.
Not to mention, particularly with the belief that fairies are real, per folklore around the world, these things almost seem more demonic in nature than something cute and innocent. That is not exactly something children just start associating with at such a young and impressionable age. At least in my opinion.
