The Perfect Road Trip (DP#256)

Preparation is key when planning any sort of trip, let alone one in which you are using your own vehicle. Depending on how long and how far this adventure takes you, odds are something is going to cause a hiccup. Being adequately prepared can turn a potential catastrophe into a more manageable headache.

Having the right tools and supplies on deck, will allow you to take care of some of the more typical maintenance issues. Things like a jack, battery jumper kit, tire iron, spare tire, etc. will eliminate a hefty tow and garage bill. If you lack the knowledge and/or confidence to do your own work, you need to learn or have some money in the bank lol.

When you finally reach your destination, I recommend having an itinerary of sorts. It does not have to be anything massive or extremely detail oriented (unless if you enjoy micromanaging like that). I would at least list out the places and activities you are interested in while in the area, and be mindful of closing times!

My husband and I have missed out on some fun activities due to arriving too late. It is very disappointing lol.

Budgeting is a big part of your overall enjoyment as well. If you are stressing about how much you are spending, that is taking away from your overall enjoyment. This is supposed to be a fun experience so make sure you budget accordingly and prioritize things to spend money on. For example, I am not a souvenir and knick-knack person, so experiences are where the majority of my money goes. If you struggle with impulse buying, budget accordingly and stick to that budget!

All in all, being able to cut down on stressors while during the drive and after you arrive at your destination, is key to your overall enjoyment. Also take your time! Rushing there and feeling like you are speed running the vacation, is no longer a vacation lol.

About Me

Hello! I am Ashley and I simply love to read, and hope you do to!
I am currently 29 years old and living in the state of Texas, USA.

My favorite genres to read and review include romance, fantasy, mystery, and many subgenres of those as long as it is clean. I mainly get my books from my Kindle Unlimited membership, but I also found myself checking out library books on Libby as well.

As you can see, I do not solely post book reviews, I also love posting daily prompt writing, as well as stuff that is going on in my life currently. That being said, my passion is reading and reviewing books to my heart’s content, so hopefully that is something you are also interested in.

I do have a Goodreads where you can follow if you desire (no pressure!) I also have a StoryGraph, of which you can follow me here.
