When Kolton and I got married, we decided to do the bare minimum which is just to go up to the courthouse, say a few vows in front of a judge and go home. We are both pretty uncomfortable being in front of people, so we did not want to be miserable at our own wedding. The people that did show up, were the ones that took time out of their days to come as we treated it like an if you know about it, you can come situation. Overall, there were maybe 20-something of our family members that were able to make it which was still lovely.
Kolton’s family drove for about 6 hours to make it up here as well which was awesome.
My family, who is very traditional, respected our wishes obviously, but my aunt and cousin went above and beyond for it still. I was not originally planning on having a bouquet, but my aunt took it upon herself to make me one herself. She even made Kolton a matching boutonniere which was quite lovely.
I was also not expecting or planning for any sort of wedding shower either, so my aunt and cousins put together a small ladies get together with some pictures of our ceremony, snacks, and games. It was an overall very enjoyable and small gift these ladies did for me that respected my modest wishes, but showed how much they actually care.
