•Currently Reading•

When I say currently reading, I mean I am starting today lol

I am FINALLY reading ‘To the Lighthouse’ I promise lol

‘The Enoch Effect’ is this Christian legal thriller full of suspense and mysterious intrigue. I am looking forward to this since I have yet to read a genre like this.

Last week I mentioned another book I was about to read: ‘Interstellar Mage’ by Glynn Stewart. I began reading it and immediately, there were quite a bit of strong language and mentions of sexual activity, so I stopped. I did not get through enough to warrant a DNF post, I just will not be reading it.

•Just Finished Reading•

I was able to complete two electronic books and an audiobook this week!

‘Ruthless Vow’s was the audiobook, and I did a bit of a dumb by completely losing track of time and letting my hold expire on Libby. Due to that, I had to read the last 18% of it on Kindle. The book was fantastic; I just got so used to hearing the voices of Rebecca Norfolk and Alex Wingfield as they did a phenomenal job with it.

•Reading Next•

My upcoming few reads are going to be finally continuing on some of the series I have been reading since way back. I keep getting distracted by pretty books to read so I am going to TRY to lock in lol

  • ‘Pretending to be the Mountain Man’s Wife’ is the sixth installment of the ‘Brothers of Sapphire Ranch’ series by Misty M. Beller. This was the very first series I read on this blog, so I need to close out this amazing series.
  • ‘An Improper Scheme’ is the third book in the ‘Improper Agreements’ series by Audra Wells. After that, I only have one book left in this series.
  • ‘Once Upon a Smile’ is the second and final book in the ‘Regal Retellings’ series by Kristen Niedfeldt. The first book was quite enjoyable, so I am excited to finish this series on a high note.

    I fear To the Lighthouse might be such a departure from what you’ve been reading that you may find the stream-of-consciousness style a struggle. I know I did when I first read it. But over the years, I’ve found it beautiful and deeply comforting to return to.

    Sometimes I revisit it at random, opening to any page when I want a kind of warm blanket for the mind. At its best, it brings a quiet, almost pure joy.

      The difference in genre and writing style is why I am wanting to read it. I used to read literature like that in AP English as well as in college, and I enjoyed most of the assigned readings. Obviously, some are less enjoyable, but such is the way of the world.

      I want the warm blanket reads, so I expect to get quite a bit out of it 🙂

        I have read my fair share of classic English literature before, but nothing quite like that style. Maybe James Joyce is the closest I can think of. Anyway, curl up and have fun, lol.

        You know, the weird thing about her prose is that I find it so delectably romantic and passionate. I don’t know why, but that’s how it feels to me.

        She definitely wrote quite a few run-on sentences that is for sure lol
        I actually found a free PDF version with context added to some of the more cultural stuff she mentions so that helps.

        She seemed to be quite detailed oriented and observant, so I understand where you are coming from.

        Rather than read a crude PDF, I’d definitely recommend an Audio version in its place such as this one:

        And you can listen to it in pieces. Such a beautiful voice and accent.

        Yeah, I was actually probably going to read as I listen for that extra context! PDFs do have a crappy format lol
