Places to Visit Near Me (DP#143)

—

I had to look up attractions in Fort Worth, and I have truly visited the majority of them at some point in my lifetime. The more popular places being the Stockyards, art museum, science museum, the zoo, and the water/botanical gardens, I have visited each multiple times.

Since I am not a drinker, I am not interested in the more social/party scenes of downtown so those are off the table.

I will say, there are a couple of old buildings I would like to visit, as well as some memorials that are very close to my house, I just never went for some reason. One such memorial is the Haltom City Veteran’s Memorial, showcasing the names of the fallen of those who lived in this city. There is also the Police and Firefighter’s Memorial right outside of Downtown Fort Worth, by the Trinity River. The statues on that one have always looked cool to me since they are in what appears to be black granite.

Besides that, there was this mansion near me that I have always wanted to tour but unfortunately the owners of the historic property thought it a better idea to sell to some sort of big wig company and now, there are going to be housing packed onto the property. Such a shame.

  1. It sounds like there is so much to see and do in Fort Worth. I’d like to see the art and science museum, the zoo and the botanical gardens. That’s great you already know them so well.

    1. Fort Worth is definitely a hotspot for entertaining things to do for sure. Plus, you have Arlington and Dallas less than an hour away for even more things to do.
The museums have always been fun to me, and they have a rotating lineup of exhibits, so there is always an excuse to go again.

      1. I’ve seen lots of movies set in those places which makes me curious to see them one day – for real.
Yes, that is great about the rotating exhibits to keep everything new and fresh.

      2. Yeah. They actually had some roads in downtown blocked off because they were filming some Billy Bob Thornton film or TV show down there just a few months ago. It is definitely a culturally rich place if you like cattle drive history for sure.

      3. Billy Bob’s still doing the rounds is he? I liked him in the Coen Brother’s ‘The Man That Wasn’t There’.

      4. Yeah he is! I have heard good things about that movie. I loved him in Bad News Bears lol. Freaking hilarious and I have known so many people like that in real life.

      5. Oh, I haven’t seen that. It looks like a lot of fun. My kids would love it. The trailer was very funny.

      6. Oh yeah lol it is great.
