A Great Leader (DP#138)

Is somebody who is willing to get their hands dirty alongside their charges. I have worked under some of those bosses whom I would hardly ever see outside of when they would crawl out of their cushy offices and tear into someone who they deemed to be dropping the ball. These people are some of the worst personalities with the worst attitudes man. These places are also typically the businesses who claim to have an open-door policy, but that door is always shut so nobody feels comfortable to ask questions or get clarification.

You have to also see your group as individuals with different strengths and weaknesses. After all, people are not robots who can fit seamlessly into any role you throw at them. This takes getting to know the people beyond their name of course so it would help to have some honesty and openness yourself, so people feel more comfortable opening up to you. When I was a shift lead at Crumbl, I would not put the overly anxious and quiet people on the register. Similarly, I would not put the chatty cathy types amongst the younger kids since nothing would get done in a timely manner. When you allow some flexibility with people, you truly see where they shine individually which makes the whole group feel more cohesive and efficient.

Above all, I think empathy is one of the most vital characteristics to have when you are a leader. You should never forget how it feels to be on the bottom of the totem pole, so to say. Humility shows everyone that you do not think highly of yourself, so people are more willing to follow you. There may be times in which you have to push your group harder than normal to reach a goal or quota, and during these rush times, support is what matters the most. When all of yall are in the trenches together and fighting alongside each other as equals, nothing strengthens that relationship more.

  1. If you were my boss, I would be No. 1 whatever it was. lol I’d be over the moon and going this way and that way. You’d have my empathy total! Quota – I’m your man! lol

    1. Lol! I appreciate the enthusiasm. I feel like I have a tendency to freak out and stress everybody out with my anxiety, which is why I prefer not being a boss lol

      1. Leadership often comes with life experience and being settled in your own skin. That can take decades. Or sometimes we are put in those positions and we just have to wing it. The most important thing is to be yourself and pay attention – ‘Attend to the day and aim for the highest good’. Have fun.

      2. Lol I feel like I am winging life in general. But yeah I get what you mean. As long as you are aware of the mistakes that could happen and how to deal with them at that time, you should be golden.

      3. We are all winging it as you say. And it’s tough. Life is suffering. We require the moral courage to confront it. I love that quote from ‘We Bought a Zoo’ – “Sometimes all you need is 20 seconds of insane courage, just literally 20 seconds of embarrassing bravery, and I promise you something great will come of it.”

      4. I completely get what you are saying, I just do not want to be winging it lol Yeah there is a sense of excitement about it but that comes from eventually finding that sense of understanding. That eureka moment in which everything clicks, and you no longer have to worry about anything. Lol wishful thinking I know but man, I am so tired of worrying about crap. It is exhausting and debilitating.

      5. Winging it is good. There is nothing wrong with that and people respect it. Don’t go above yourself. Just be comfortable. Really, the thing is..just stay centred in you and f&/k what other people think. That’s really it. If you live healthy and are in a good mode – don’t give a sh/t how others see you. They are waiting for you to think about how you will be perceived. You are better than that. My golly I know that. Go with everything you are and not 2 craps about others. Ash you’re a great person – don’t waste your precious time on what others may think. They are just waiting for you to give into them being minuscule. excuse my French, but F&7k that sh/t! You follow? Be strong, you’re an amazing woman of faith – go at them.

About Me

Hello! I am Ashley and I simply love to read, and hope you do to!
I am currently 28 years old and living in the state of Texas, USA.

My favorite genres to read and review include romance, fantasy, mystery, and many subgenres of those as long as it is clean. I mainly get my books from my Kindle Unlimited membership, but I also found myself checking out library books on Libby as well.

As you can see, I do not solely post book reviews, I also love posting daily prompt writing, as well as stuff that is going on in my life currently. That being said, my passion is reading and reviewing books to my heart’s content, so hopefully that is something you are also interested in.

I do have a Goodreads where you can follow if you desire (no pressure!) I also have a StoryGraph, of which you can follow me here.
