- Homemade Chicken and Dumplings – My husband typically makes the soup portion of it, while I handmake the dumplings. As someone who used to dislike dumplings, I realized I just never had good ones lol So if you find yourself disliking them yourself, I HIGHLY recommend trying them completely homemade, as the flavor and consistency is on a whole other level.
- Tacos/Nachos – I have these in the same category since we use the exact same ingredients. My husband makes the BEST crock pot refried pinto beans and the way he seasons them is divine! Add them to my homemade flour tortillas or even a good store-bought corn tortilla, with some crema and shredded cheese. YAS! If we are going the nacho route, have everything with some On the Border chips or your favorite tortilla chip!
- Creamy Chicken and Corn Skillet – My all-time favorite meal I am able to cook myself. The key is using full corn still on the cob as that sweet flavor comes through with the bacon. The sauce is quite creamy with delicious flavors that go with the grilled chicken. Cooking this meal does take some time prepping everything but is so worth it! When cooking the corn, just be sure to place a lid over the saucepan for when the corn starts popping. This scared the crap out of me the first time I made it lol

‘As someone who used to dislike dumplings, I realized I just never had good ones’
↑ This was worth the price of admission alone. lol-
HAHA! I apologize for the snarkiness but tis true! Frozen versus Homemade is literally no contest.

Haha. If there is anything I’ve regretted eating too little of – are dumplings. I’m envious.

I am not sure how much you cook, but this is the recipe I follow with mine in case you ever crave them once again:
https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/6900/dumplings/
For the soup, we use 32 ounces of chicken broth, 3 cans of condensed cream of chicken soup and some shredded chicken. Plus, whatever seasonings you prefer 🙂

Hey Ashley, thanks for the recipes. I’m definitely going to try that ‘Homemade Dumplings’ one this week with my son. I’m already excited. I’ll tell you how it goes. Cool!
-
Oh nice! No problem! I am not one of those people who is stingy with recipes and things, so I hope you and your son enjoy them! Oh also, I typically make the double amount of dumplings but that is totally up to you.
-
Ok, I might need to make more dumplings like you.
You know something totally bizarre; I have never ever used flour to cook. I only have a stove too. So it will be a first for me. -
Oh wow! As long as you can boil the soup, you will be fine. I would recommend making the dumplings thinner, that way they do get cooked all the way through the middle.
-
Ah ok, thanks for the tip.
