Such a complicated question of so little words lol
I would have to say yes and no.
Half of my answer is no because I personally feel I lack the confidence to be an adequate leader. My social anxiety gets in the way of me speaking in front of people, as well as putting my foot down and keeping high expectations for those I am in charge of. I am definitely not jumping at the bit to get hired on in a leadership position lol
I say yes because God has a funny way of putting me in such situations where I HAVE to be leader. My first leadership role was actually a morning shift lead for Crumbl (an over-hyped cookie company in the US). I was in charge of a few adults since we had to be up there at 5 in the morning. After a certain time, I would also be in charge of some teenagers which those were the ones that tested my patience the most, but I always got everything done that needed to be.
I then jumped to working at an elementary school as a special education para. Working with children particularly the younger ones, you HAVE to put your foot down lol Or NOTHING gets done at all. This is the job that I would say changed my life because I learned the absolute most from this position. This is one of those roles where you either sink or swim. This position and the environment pushed me to my breaking point on numerous occasions but man, it was one of those periods that I will look back and be glad of the way it has shaped me the most. This role also helped prepare me to babysit my niece since I had absolutely no idea how to act and speak with children.
While I was working at the school, I took the leap and began assisting with the Children’s Ministry at my church. I have stuck with it for over four years now so I must be doing something right lol
My point is that we may not think highly of ourselves when it comes to being able to lead a single person, let alone a whole team. However, sometimes you may be pushed into a role where you have to and who knows what you may find out about yourself in the process? You may find your true calling, or it may solidify your ideas about yourself. Either way, you are discovering more of your true self and how you could fit into this crazy world.
