What are your best healthy eating habits?

I am not going to lie, my husband and I are struggling a bit on the sugar side of things. We discovered the magical amazingness of instant pudding and manilla wafers so we typically have a serving for dessert. Also all those Fall and Halloween themed cookies you just pop into the oven are incredible. We need to work on this for sure.
As far as what we are actually eating for meals, we typically only have lunch and dinner for our version of intermittent fasting. We have gotten good at making our own rice (white and Mexican) and our own meat. My husband has gotten particularly good at making carne asada, stir-fry and teriyaki chicken. When we do tacos I make homemade tortillas instead of buying the cheap crap from the store. I HIGHLY recommend! I have also gotten better at drinking water and having salad with my meals that I also make at home.
Basically, our biggest healthy eating habit is making our meals at home. I believe the last time we ate fast food was Labor Day but we can easily go months without eating out. The amount of money that is saved is crazy as well.
I would say, making sandwiches using store brought bread is another habit we need to break. I need to get more comfortable and familiar with making my own bread since that stuff they sell you is absolutely not healthy and my stomach pays the price every single time. Not to mention, it can be expensive buying two loafs of normal bread and a loaf of sourdough.
Drinking sodas and sugary drinks are another thing. I am no going to lie, we had sodas just a couple days ago and my acid reflux was set off all that night. Something I have learned to combat bad habits like this is when you make a habit as inconvenient as possible, you are less likely to want to participate in it. This is pretty common sense but can be difficult to put into practice sometimes.
For the sodas we never buy bulk from the store since we would have no self control. Instead, anytime we are craving it we have to make a special trip to the corner store and pay even more for their single bottles of soda. This way, we are allowing ourselves this treat every once and a while, but we are feeling the burn a bit lol. It truly does make us second guess if we really want the soda or not every single time. Same thing with sweets and candy!
Other than that, we typically eat pretty healthy and have decreased our serving sizes. It is just always a struggle to eat healthy when we can cook and bake quite nicely lol.
