I would honestly say that I have changed a bunch since I have lived with my parents.
For one, I actually cook and regularly take care of myself. Growing up in a household where nobody liked to cook or clean, it was challenging to force those good habits into my brain. It was not until I got with Kolton that he actually taught me how to cook proper meals without over relying on frozen microwaveable ones.
Kolton also being a bit of a tidy person, forced the messy side out of me for the most part. I am not going to lie, I would be the type of person to throw trash on the floor and leave food out on the counter until the next day. It is completely hideous I know! That is why I feel so much better about my situation now.
The hoarding mentality I have also lost over the years. I had certain family members who would rarely get rid of stuff that was no longer needed. I am talking about crappy children’s drawings from almost 30 years ago and report cards from just about that time as well lol. Or broken children’s toys and stuffed animals, old VHS tapes that we cannot watch anymore, the list goes on.
Once again, us going to be living in a van has helped my mentality of having too much stuff lol.
Basically, the more fundamental parts of my brain have changed quite a bit since when I grew up. Thank the Lord for that!
