Booking Though Thursday – Juggling Books

Welcome to Booking Through Thursday, a weekly bookish meme about books and reading for everyone who loves both. Booking Through Thursday was first hosted by Deb and is now hosted by Charity from Writing Wrongs!

This Week’s Prompt:

Do you have more than one book on the go at any time? Does it depend on the genre? Maybe you can juggle fiction and nonfiction, but not two of the same? Or are you a one-book-at-a-time reader?

My answer to this prompt has actually evolved quite a bit.

When I first started reading and reviewing books regularly, I was strictly a one eBook at a time person. I remember attempting two at once, and struggling to write proper reviews for them at the same time.

Then at the beginning of this year, I began branching out to audiobooks when I discovered the wonderful world of Libby. Listening to one book while reading an electronic copy of another, helped differentiate the two stories in my mind. I felt like I was reading faster than I ever was at this point lol. Due to that discovery, I have attempted to always have one eBook and one audiobook going at one time. The only problem with this, is not all the books I want to read have audiobook versions and there are WAY more eBooks available.

Throw in NetGalley reads in there and I was forced to read two eBooks at once just to make sure I have read the book before they are published.

Today, I am currently reading two eBooks at once, with no audiobook going right now lol. I have found it easier to focus and separate both stories so that helps a lot. Also since I have been reading some heavier historical fiction, it helps to have another genre going, as to not get too emotionally drained.

How do you juggle books, if at all?

  1. I usually have one paperback I’m reading, as well as an ebook. I read the ebook in the mornings, and the paperback whenever I can fit it in.

  2. Love Libby and audio books. I also like to mix print and ebooks, especially when I want to totally get away from screens.

About Me

Hello! I am Ashley and I simply love to read, and hope you do to!
I am currently 29 years old and living in the state of Texas, USA.

My favorite genres to read and review include romance, fantasy, mystery, and many subgenres of those as long as it is clean. I mainly get my books from my Kindle Unlimited membership, but I also found myself checking out library books on Libby as well.

As you can see, I do not solely post book reviews, I also love posting daily prompt writing, as well as stuff that is going on in my life currently. That being said, my passion is reading and reviewing books to my heart’s content, so hopefully that is something you are also interested in.

I do have a Goodreads where you can follow if you desire (no pressure!) I also have a StoryGraph, of which you can follow me here.
