I feel like being genuine is one of the most important characteristics of gaining loyal subscribers. Being yourself will allow more people to relate and feel a genuine connection with you. All the rage baitey and fake people whose sole personality traits include money and main character syndrome, are some of the most tacky people. I loathe the fact they have some of the biggest ‘fan bases’. When in reality, the majority of the people watch them for the drama instead of actually enjoying them as people.
Another aspect that matters quite a bit is consistency. Having a semi regular/regular schedule in which your audience can expect to see some new media from you strengthens that connection further. After all, I have grown up with certain Youtubers I enjoyed heavily and seeing that new video from them, shed some light on some darker days of mine.
Ultimately, the actual content matters but not so much as the content of your character. It is okay to have lurkers who may have you playing in the background. The fact of the matter is that they find enjoyment and comfort in YOU, so they keep coming back for more. You become a sort of safe space, if that makes sense.
