Caught My Eye (DP#266)

I will admit for this prompt of walking around until something catches my eye, I did not have to walk for long lol.

This plant is right outside the front door of my husband’s grandma’s house. I believe these are Crepe myrtles in the light pink variety. This thing has been popping off with the flowers for sure. There are so many pollinators all over it all the time so I had to be careful when getting up close with it. The smell is quite potent which is great but it also instantly aggravates my allergies.

My father-in-law puts bird seed out in between the bases and we sometimes sit outside and watch the various birds and squirrels eat. We have captured pictures of doves, cardinals, blue jays and mockingbirds. Right as I walked outside this morning, there were two squirrels fighting over the seed which I did not appreciate. They have been causing a ruckus on the roof for several days at this point. They need to chill lol.

  1. That picture on the right, with the sun beams……Wow, I love it! I love feeding the birds too! Imagine if everyone could see/experience something so beautiful, thanks for sharing! Wooohoo

    1. Thank you for your lovely comment 🙂
I was initially going to delete the picture due to it being slightly blurry at the top but the rays were a pleasant surprise so I left it in.
Birds are something else so it is interesting just watching them.
      Thank you so much 🙂

  2. I have a squirrel in my backyard tree. Its life purpose seems to be teasing my golden retriever! Every day she barks and jumps at the tree while the squirrel keeps running up and down the trunk.

    1. Ah yes taunting squirrels. Our pit bull mix Bella had this enemy squirrel in our backyard. It would sit at the top of the fence just swishing its tail and chittering at her. It was rather comical until Bella almost broke her leg climbing the dang fence lol.
After that, I had to be on guard anytime we let her out.

  3. Such a gorgeous post with beautiful words. I missed you friendo.

    1. It seems analogous to something Virginia Woolf might write about. Exquisite.

      1. She did seem to like her flowers so maybe lol I would definitely not compare myself to her lol. I appreciate it though.

    2. Thank you so much Matt. It was a very lazy post for sure since its so hot up here.

      1. I think it is one of my favourite posts from you. Just so simple, but gorgeously executed. Definitely Woolf territory in my meagre estimation.

      2. Well I appreciate it Matt!
I do love the simpler things typically as it feels more genuine if that makes sense.
