Surprised by a Movie (DP#259)

I will tell you right now, I am not the biggest fan of comedy movies as they just come off as incredibly dumb to me. That being said, one such RIDICULOUS movie that I was introduced to by my lovely husband was Kung Fu Hustle.

This is a 2004 Hong Kong movie that describes itself as a martial arts action comedy film that was directed and starred in by Stephen Chow.

Thinking back on it, I could not tell you the premise exactly due to all the hilarity that ensued centered around a slum housing complex, some sort of gang fighting going on, and the ridiculous characters with odd super powers that present themselves. It is rated R so just be mindful when you watch it. I also believe the original was in Chinese so prepare for reading hilarious subtitles, or find a dubbed version which is still hilarious, but some of the context is changed a bit.

When I was first sat down and told to “watch this” by Kolton, I was instantly on edge lol. We have some rivaling opinions about good movies so I went in expecting to not enjoy myself. Fortunately, it was actually an enjoyable experience lol. It is now stored away in my mind for hilarious parody style movies.

About Me

Hello! I am Ashley and I simply love to read, and hope you do to!
I am currently 28 years old and living in the state of Texas, USA.

My favorite genres to read and review include romance, fantasy, mystery, and many subgenres of those as long as it is clean. I mainly get my books from my Kindle Unlimited membership, but I also found myself checking out library books on Libby as well.

As you can see, I do not solely post book reviews, I also love posting daily prompt writing, as well as stuff that is going on in my life currently. That being said, my passion is reading and reviewing books to my heart’s content, so hopefully that is something you are also interested in.

I do have a Goodreads where you can follow if you desire (no pressure!) I also have a StoryGraph, of which you can follow me here.
