Child’s Obsession (DP#247)

When my sister and I were children, we both went through several expensive obsessions.

Two of the more notable collections we had were Webkinz stuffed animals, and Littlest Pet Shop animals.

The Webkinz craze was all over the place back in the early 2000’s – 2010’s. Basically, you would buy these overpriced stuffed animals at a retail store near you, go online and enter the code each animal came with. Then you would be able to play with a virtual rendition of your stuffed animal. It sounds ridiculous, because it was lol. I cannot for the life of me remember how many of these dang things we had but it was more than 40 for sure. I cringe thinking of all the money that was spent on these things. They were the number one wish listed item for birthdays and holidays for sure.

The Littlest Pet Shop animals were cheaper (minus the playhouse sets) and easier to store as they were only about a couple inches tall. We had MANY of these with different series and variations. My sister and I would pop off on these, pretending they were having talent shows or some sort of family drama lol. I remember at one point, Ally and AJ (famous Disney actresses and singers) jumped on the bandwagon and did this whole advertisement campaign for LPS and their new album. It was a crazy time for sure. These were other highly requested gifts each year.

I cannot remember which craze came first for us but I can think back fondly (and not so fondly) on both of them.

  1. This was a crazy read! I knew nothing about this. Totally bizarre. But it sounds like you had fun.

    1. Yeah they were both an over consumerism trap for sure. I would not even want to know how much money was spent on those stupid things lol.

      1. Certainly been there, done that – well not with ‘stuffed animals’ – but yeh.

About Me

Hello! I am Ashley and I simply love to read, and hope you do to!
I am currently 28 years old and living in the state of Texas, USA.

My favorite genres to read and review include romance, fantasy, mystery, and many subgenres of those as long as it is clean. I mainly get my books from my Kindle Unlimited membership, but I also found myself checking out library books on Libby as well.

As you can see, I do not solely post book reviews, I also love posting daily prompt writing, as well as stuff that is going on in my life currently. That being said, my passion is reading and reviewing books to my heart’s content, so hopefully that is something you are also interested in.

I do have a Goodreads where you can follow if you desire (no pressure!) I also have a StoryGraph, of which you can follow me here.
