Goodreads Monday/TBR Monday! – Part of Your World

—

This is yet another fun bookish meme I saw hosted by Budget Tales Book Blog 🙂

Goodreads Monday/TBR Monday invites you to post about what books are on your Goodreads “to read” lists or TBR lists, the progress you have made on your current books and reading challenges, and any other bookish news!

This first book I have chosen is ‘Part of Your World’ by Karen Witemeyer!

Synopsis

She saved him from the sea. He awakened her heart. Now a villainous scheme threatens to destroy them both.

Seawater runs through Muriel Quinn’s veins—a fact that has long concerned her father, who longs for his youngest daughter to abandon the waves and embrace the respectable life expected of a grown woman. Yet even when banished from her beloved sea, Muriel feels its pull upon her soul. Drawn to the shore, she witnesses a boating accident and dives in to save a man from drowning. As she brings him back from the brink of death, a dream stirs to life in her heart.

Despite his family’s wealth and social standing, Zane Erickson pursues a career in architecture, having no interest in cementing a match with any of the bridal candidates his mother foists upon him. Until a mysterious beauty saves his life and vanishes before he can learn her name. Determined to find her, he is stunned when the matchmaker his mother hired arrives with the very woman who has haunted his dreams. But he soon learns there are darker forces than romance at work in this meeting.

Entangled in a blackmail scheme that grows more deceitful and dangerous by the day, Zane and Muriel must fight not only for their love, but for the lives of those they hold dear.

Why This Book?

This book is on my TBR due to it being the sequel in the ‘Once Upon a Time in Texas’ series. I have actually read and reviewed the first book ‘To Love a Beast‘ which is a retelling of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ which is one of my favorite Disney movies.

‘Part of Your World’ is clearly a retelling of ‘The Little Mermaid’ of which I have not seen in years, so I am excited to get reacquainted with this story! This book releases this year on June 16th, so I am eagerly awaiting that day!

Updates

I am currently reading ‘An Improper Proposal’ by Audra Wells. I am currently 60% of the way through. This is the fourth book in the ‘Improper Agreements’ series. I will link my reviews for the first three books down below:

  1. I’m definitely going to have to try this one!

    1. For real! I am curious to see how she handles the plot where the main character loses her voice as that was slightly difficult to sit through at times lol

  2. That book sounds excellent. I also love a Beauty and the Beast retelling! I will be investigating further!

I haven’t read a series in a while as I get sucked in to Blog Tours and Netgalley reads. Saying that I am part of a Blog Tour that has a book from a series that I have only read one of, but enjoyed. It doesn’t seem to rely on previous books.

You have done well on your reading goal so far this year!

    Have a great week!

    1. Thank you for your lovely comment!

I have not read too many retellings but it was pretty good for sure.

I can imagine sticking to one series would be tough when you have so much already on your schedule. Is that ever a struggle for you? Like if there is something you really want to read but you have to continually push it back due to other review obligations, how do you deal with burn out? If at all?

I hope you have a great day as well!

      1. Excellent 😊

I always make sure that I have time to read the books and only go for books that I think I will enjoy. Occasionally I really look forward to reading a book, but I am quite discipled and stick to date order 😊

        Thank you 😊

      2. Wow! I need some of that discipline for sure as I tend to overwhelm myself and change my list order too often. You are consistently putting out content and I find that inspiring 🙂

      3. I try to make sure that I can achieve something otherwise I will panic and stress (although it has been close a couple of times because I find it hard to say no!)

I blog from my phone which makes it manageable in-between things!

● About Me

Hello! I am Ashley and I simply love to read, and hope you do to!
I am currently 29 years old and living in the state of Texas, USA.

My favorite genres to read and review include romance, fantasy, mystery, and many subgenres of those as long as it is clean. I mainly get my books from my Kindle Unlimited membership, but I also found myself checking out library books on Libby as well.

As you can see, I do not solely post book reviews, I also love posting daily prompt writing, as well as stuff that is going on in my life currently. That being said, my passion is reading and reviewing books to my heart’s content, so hopefully that is something you are also interested in.

I do have a Goodreads where you can follow if you desire (no pressure!) I also have a StoryGraph, of which you can follow me here.
