What makes a good pet for one person, may be a terrible pet for somebody else. It truly depends on how much effort and money you are willing to put into it. Also, it is probably not a good idea for somebody who is afraid of reptiles to have a snake. Likewise, people who have allergies, should not get a pet that would trigger all that since you should be comfortable in your own home.
As far as pets in general, there are some that I prefer (particularly with dogs) but I would never turn someone off from a specific breed or species just because I had a bad experience with them. For example, my mom has a chiweenie dog named Bandit. He has the worst attitude I have ever seen in that type of dog; he loves to bark at and bite people and use the bathroom in the house. While, I am not chomping at the bit to be around this dog, I also understand that he is like this because my parents never got him trained and never got him out of that behavior. If having patience with training is out of the question for you, it is probably not a good idea to have any animal that is more in the world, if you will. Maybe a fish lol
At the end of the day, as a responsible person who may be looking for a pet, make sure your daily life meshes with the needs of the animal. Just be informed and do your research and you are set up for a great long-term relationship with your new best friend 🙂
