Most Skipped Routine (DP#74)

Unfortunately, I would have to say working out for me.

My husband and I are waiting to get gym memberships until we get out in the RV, so our workout routine is mainly calisthenics with some weights for arm workouts. Being someone who struggles with being sore after a workout, it is a mental hurdle every day to push myself through it.

Due to us being busy from the house selling process, we have gotten used to working out right before bed so we can just lay down and chill until we fall asleep. Luckily, the weather has been getting chillier at night, so the heat is not as bad for my asthma. The room does tend to heat up a decent amount anyways; I just physically have to stop when I am feeling nauseous and lightheaded.

I know the only way to improve my endurance, and health is to continue working out regularly. Which is what pushes me through it at all lol My mentality could also be more positive for sure as well but Man! Those sore abs and legs HURT lol I struggle with feeling as though I cannot function normally when I feel like my muscles are on fire. My husband loves that feeling so I am trying to gain those happy thoughts through him. Honestly, I just need to suck it up and quit with the complaining!

  1. I’m glad the cooler climate is helping your asthma. It was interesting reading your thoughts on working out. I think it does get easier once it becomes a habit. They say after two or three weeks of sticking to a consistent routine, your body starts to crave it – almost like it’s reminding you to get moving. Good luck with it all and keep us posted!

    1. Thank you! It has been helping my motivation since I do not feel like doing anything when I am hot to begin with.
We are on day four of consecutively working out again so we shall see where this goes. We watch our niece the next two days, and I am already quite sore so we shall see how this goes lol

      1. Congratulations on reaching 4! Look at you two going gangbusters. Have fun with your niece – she’s bound to give you some high-intensity, unfiltered entertainment and movement, hehe.

      2. Thank you so much! I have never heard ‘gangbusters’ before so thank you for the extended vocabulary lol
She was forcing me to run around with her in the yard but it did stretch out my leg and back soreness so that is good at least lol

      3. It sounds like you need a warm-up series before attending to her. You know how they make you twist yourself into shapes you didn’t know you had – suddenly the inner contortionist comes strutting out. And then the body’s like, “Umm… hold up a sec,” lol.

      4. For sure. The problem with pre-gaming it is the fact that I never know when the game is even going to start. We go outside intending to blow bubbles which she is obsessed with. She chases them around for a while but then out of nowhere, she is over them and starts dragging me to the “starting line” which is the fence, and she starts counting down our take off lol She is consistently inconsistent. Not a very good work out buddy lol I do need to stretch more for sure though.

      5. She sounds so cute. I hope you all have a lovely time. I’m just about on my way to pick up my daughter who is crazy for playing bubbles too (still at 10 year old lol). She is now on School holidays. Yippy!

      6. Lol yeah, she is pretty cute. Ooh holidays form school were always so much fun! I hope yall both have fun 🙂

      7. I barely find a moment to respond to anyone when I have my daughter. I honestly don’t know how working single parents do it – I’m not even working.

      8. All good! Your daughter is your top priority. I am not quite sure how parents do it in general lol There may be a few times in which we get a moment to breathe when my niece is over here. Mainly when she is asleep, but she fights that like the plague.

      9. Yeh, Kath is the angel on my shoulder. I have her until tomorrow when she goes back to her Mummy and then next week I will have my son. Today we are off to go play Tennis and Swim. We’ll be going alternate for most of their long Christmas School holidays.
Yes, your niece sounds like a bundle of insane energy. Gotta love it. Do you read to her to help her get to sleep?
I hope this message finds you in good spirits Ashley.

      10. Kath is such a beautiful name. It seems like you will have your hands full for the holidays! I hope you guys enjoy today to the fullest.
Lillian does not like being read to just yet lol I typically try to put on some low sensory type of shows, but she rarely falls asleep over here at this point.
Other than feeling a bit under the weather, I am doing pretty good! Thank you.

      11. Hey Ashley! My daughter’s full name is Katherine Rose. My mother chose her first name and the second name is a contraction of my Mother’s name Rosemary. In Latin America people have four names. The first two are first names and the last two surnames of both parents. I took Kathy back to her Mum yesterday – I’m already feeling a bit blue not having her around.
I’m sorry to read you were not feeling well. I hope you are already past that.

      12. I love how much history different cultures put into naming their children! Katherine Rose is beautiful! The fact you have all multiple generations coming together is amazing.

I am sorry you are feeling down about your daughter going back to her mom. While I cannot understand the depth of how that feels, I do sympathize with you. Co-Parenting is definitely challenging. I have experienced second hand from my husband, who was going back and forth from his parents since he was 3. It does seem like yall have an amicable relationship so that helps greatly.

We have been getting some storms up here, so my sinuses are suffering from everything getting stirred up in the air. It is a yearly struggle lol

      13. Katherine is quite a popular name here, but people pronounce it “Katerin,” since the th sound doesn’t exist in Spanish. It always irks me hearing my daughter’s name said that way – it sounds so much more elegant in English. lol

Yes, the co-parenting setup can be complicated, but the kids, their mother, and I are used to it, and it works well for everyone.

I hope those storms stay away and don’t cause any trouble for you and your husband. I know the weather can flare up sinuses in many people, and I hope it doesn’t bother you too much.

      14. I can see why that would irk you. They are technically mispronouncing it, which is kind of annoying, but the accent thing is understandable but at least try.

I am glad yall have made it work for everybody. That is a blessing for everyone, particularly your kids. They will appreciate that more and more as they get older.

We survived the storms from this week, but more are coming next week right before Thanksgiving. All of which could bring hail and tornados, the typical stuff lol I will just stock up on some allergy medicine.

      15. They’re technically pronouncing it correctly in Spanish, but it still doesn’t quite land right, lol. It’s funny to see peoples’ reactions when I try to make amends by pronouncing it in English. They think I’m crazy.

We just booked the family in to see a Christmas concert by the Philharmonic Orchestra of Bogotá at the theatre — should be a hoot.

Yesterday we had an outrageous rain-and-lightning storm sweep through that somehow led the gym to close the indoor pools. We’re deep into the wet season here, where the bipolar weather rears its head and you never really know what’s coming.

It’s great you all celebrate Thanksgiving. I hope the storms don’t wreak havoc on it. What are your plans for the day?

      16. I get that. Does your daughter ever correct people or does she just kind of roll with it?

AH! I have always wanted to see the Philharmonic Orchestra! You lucky ducks! They are spectacular! I hope yall have a great time.

I do not mind the rain; it is just those freak storms that throw you for a loop man. Also, when the temperature drastically changes within a day, that crap gets me sicker than anything else. Lol bipolar weather is right.

We have on and off storms for the next couple of days that could potentially reach into Thursday, but it should not be too big of a deal. We are actually spending the day with family at my aunt’s house who lives about 35 minutes away. I am making some chicken and dumplings, as well as a macaroni and cheese dish. The traffic has been bad since everybody is out of school for this next week lol

      17. My daughter doesn’t correct them, because it’s correctly pronounced in Spanish. Besides me, everyone calls her ‘Katerin’ – poor girl.

I can’t wait to hear the Philharmonic Orchestra of Bogota. The acoustics are going to be unbelievable. Thanks for your lovely well wishes friend.

I must admit I’m not a fan of the rain here, since it’s tropical rain – so it’s extremely drenching and fierce. Twice the annual precipitation in a year than London!

That sounds like quite the Thanksgiving plan you’ve got lined up. Those dishes you mentioned sound downright scrumptious and genuinely mouth-watering. Enjoy!

      18. Bah! That is till unfortunate for Katherine lol

Of course! Those acoustics elevate the already amazing concert experience.

Oh I get that. Almost like a monsoon it sounds. That is crazy since London is known for rain lol

Thank you so much! I try to make something different each year to keep it fresh! Hopefully the macaroni and cheese is good lol

      19. Gawd, what I would give for a good Macaroni and Cheese serving. I used to eat it so much in my youth, that sometimes I get cravings for it. I know it’s the least bit healthy – but you gotta sometimes live crazy.

      20. Well, if the mac n cheese comes out good, I can show you that recipe as well. We only have that for the holidays for sure. There is something about a crap ton of cheese that is so very comforting lol

      21. A crap ton of cheese tastes good. Macaroni tastes gooooood. I’d be delighted to receive the recipe if it comes out ‘yummy for your tummy’ (old wiggles quote that one)

      22. Fingers crossed but it should come out fine lol Now I have that Wiggles song stuck in my freaking head, thanks Matthew lol it is gonna be there FOREVER.

      23. Fruit Salad yummy yummy..
Ouch, sorry to do that to you.

      24. I do not FEEL like you are sorry lol

  2. Mine is just opposite, I workout more often than not! Of course that may be because I’m a “The” Trainer Outdoor Training Specialist /Consultant

    1. I want to have your drive and am working on it! Lol yeah, your job may have something to do with it but that is something to be proud of!
