What I Would Attempt If Success was Imminent (DP#38)

Probably start my own business. What kind of business is a whole other can of worms lol

Throughout my life I have shown interest in a number of vastly different avenues including pet sitting, pet walking, childcare, house cleaning, creative arts, baking, etc. Before I were to go to take that leap, I guess it would be a good idea to figure out what route I truly wanted to take lol

Starting a business definitely has its drawbacks particularly if you have a more hands-on approach, as I would since why make a company and brand if you are just going to hand it off to someone else to manage? I never understood that. I used to work for a couple that owned a franchise (they obviously did not own the business as a whole, but they did manage their own store so it still kind of counts) who after a while, it became glaringly obvious that they were not interested in putting in the work. I believe they actually had to shut down that store due to people walking due to poor management. When you are in charge of people’s paychecks and time, you need to walk your talk or get out of the way.

I would like to be a part of a team that I can trust and who respects the vision of my company. That way I can be independent and self-reliant, while also doing what I love.

  1. Go out and start your business! My best suggestion is to start something that you love to do! Something that you would do for free if you didn’t need the money! Thanks for sharing

    1. I appreciate the encouragement! Thank you and I will sincerely think seriously about it 🙂 Luckily my favorite hobbies are cheap so I could always start by selling finished products and goods somehow.

  2. I keep reminding my kids (echoing your own aspirations): “If you want to make it someday – that is, to be self-sufficient, financially independent, and comfortable (not relying on someone else to pay your salary)—then create a product or service that people genuinely desire or need. But whatever you do, make sure you love what you’re creating and sharing.”

Another interesting spin-off from this whole business topic comes from my 8th-grade Economics teacher. He once told us what he wished he had done to make money: own a business that sells alcohol—because, as he put it, “people drink whether they’re happy or sad.” I sometimes wish I’d taken that advice too, instead of just being the ever-faithful consumer—haha!

About Me

Hello! I am Ashley and I simply love to read, and hope you do to!
I am currently 28 years old and living in the state of Texas, USA.

My favorite genres to read and review include romance, fantasy, mystery, and many subgenres of those as long as it is clean. I mainly get my books from my Kindle Unlimited membership, but I also found myself checking out library books on Libby as well.

As you can see, I do not solely post book reviews, I also love posting daily prompt writing, as well as stuff that is going on in my life currently. That being said, my passion is reading and reviewing books to my heart’s content, so hopefully that is something you are also interested in.

I do have a Goodreads where you can follow if you desire (no pressure!) I also have a StoryGraph, of which you can follow me here.
