Traveling and Relaxation!
My adventures on road trips take up space in the fondest parts of my memory. Whether they were full weeklong vacations or weekend getaways, I have always enjoyed the freedom of getting away from the city. As hinted at in previous posts, my husband and I desire to buy a van or RV and let loose on the continental US. As such, my ideal week would involve traveling and experiencing new locations and encounters. I have solidified my standing as a Passenger Princess, so I love being able to look around and enjoy the scenery even while being on the highways. This freedom allows me to take pictures like the one above. Some of the best shots I have gotten were in the passenger seat.
Personally, I enjoy the hustle and bustle of waking up early in the morning, packing all our stuff into the truck and heading out before morning traffic really hits. As the main navigator on our trips, I enjoy keeping an eye on the GPS and watching the hours until arrival tick down until we finally reach our destination. Having completed many road trips in Texas, you could spend HOURS in the car and never leave the state. The average time we spend on traveling to my in-laws, who live close to the Gulf of Mexico, is 5 and a half hours. This is much closer than the 7 hours to where they used to live out in West Texas.
Outside of Texas, we have taken trips to Colorado, Louisiana and Oklahoma. During this ideal week, we would pretty much choose a direction and just drive lol Checking out cool places along the way and finding a scenic backdrop to settle and camp out for the time being. Personally, I am a big fan of National Parks so that would be a location higher up on our list. During the down times in between cooking and eating, I would read, maybe play some handheld games and walk around and explore the surroundings.
There is just something so refreshing about getting out of the normal routine and going someplace you have never been. It allows you to get out into God’s creation and really separate yourself from the things that may be causing you stress and anxiety.
